Pancake Day. The Final Meeting !

Pancake Day can be celebrated between the 3rd of February and the 9th of March. It usually takes place about five weeks before Easter. It is always on a tuesday and also is called shrove tuesday.
Nowadays, some English people still celebrate this day and enjoy themselves, bake pancakes and toss them in the air. At the same time, they usually play games.
As an E-Team, we took this tasty rather enjoyable tradition to meet. So, pupils, the English teacher and two teacher from EB1/PE de Vale e Cova do Pico travelled to EB1 P/E do Jardim do Mar.
We divided our meeting in 3 slides: the trip, the presentation and games, baking and eating pancakes.

In order to make it an afternoon to remember, we started off by presenting each other, singing "the wheels on the bus", playing the handkerchief and colours´games, a quiz about English and American traditions learnt throughout the year and teaching them how to make a boat and a plane on a piece of paper.

Meanwhile, the pancakes were being baked in the kitchen. Last but not least, the children and the teachers had the opportunity to taste the delicious long-waiting pancakes.
At the end, we were really fulfilled as we watched the happiness on every children´s face. Even though, our meeting took place on the church´s ground the provisional headquarters of EB1 P/E do Jardim do Mar.
We never gave up hope of this meeting ever taking place.

St Patrick´s Day

St Patrick´s Day - 17 th March

Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. It is, therefore a christian celebration. In order to celebrate this day, Irish people like to wear a shamrock the emblem of Ireland. It represents God the father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we decided to send to the other school of the e-team St Patrick´s recycled card with the shamrock on it. The clildren from EB1/PE de Vale e Cova do Pico dressed in green and orange to celebrate this day. They also send to EB1/PE de Jardim do Mar a Bingo game about this topic.
